Purpose
Forest
inventories and timber evaluations
are used by landowners, forestland
investors and managers as a tool in
making educated financial and forest
management decisions. Forest
inventories focus on current timber
volumes and values.
Design
Green Timber uses the landowner's
objectives to design an inventory
that highlights points of interest
to be reported at a variety of
statistical targets. The intensity
and methods built into the inventory
design are dictated by the
landowner's forest inventory goals.
Forest inventories are conducted to
meet a wide range of objectives
including:
-
Forest Management Planning:
Developing a forest management
schedule
-
Timber Sale: Develop an estimate
of the volumes and values to
expect from a timber sale
-
Forest Land Acquisition:
Determining financial investment
feasibility
-
Forest Reconnaissance: Locating
timber or areas of interest on a
property
-
Continuous Forest Inventory
(CFI):
Study and monitor forest growth
and development
-
Post-harvest: Develop future
growth and stocking projections
-
Forest Carbon Credit Trading:
Develop a carbon baseline which
is required for
carbon
trading.
Forest inventories maximize the
efficiency of forest scheduling and
management. This enables landowners
to maximize financial returns on the
forestland investments.
Green Timber executes forest
inventories on properties of all
sizes. Inventory samples and forest
measurements specified in the design
are conducted by our foresters. Once
all inventory samples and
measurements are complete, we use
widely tested and accepted
techniques to calculate timber
volumes of a forest. We then apply
timber values to the forest based on
generated volumes and market
conditions. |
